Under the agreement, the range of opportunities offered by the Department of Building Services and Process Engineering at BME’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will be expanded. Egis will also contribute to modernizing the department’s training programs. In addition to offering internships and factory visits, Egis experts will provide on-site lectures covering various topics—from energy systems to chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. These new opportunities will be available to students starting from the upcoming autumn semester.

“Egis is a vertically integrated pharmaceutical company, covering all areas of the pharmaceutical value chain. We develop active ingredients and finished products, manufacture them, and deliver our medicines to patients,” emphasized Csaba Poroszlai, CEO of Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC, at the ceremonial signing of the agreement. “This alone demonstrates the wide range of expertise and knowledge we require—from manufacturing activities to the essential energy, storage, and transport infrastructure, advanced instrumentation, and increasingly automated, data-driven operations.”

Zsolt Fehérdi, Egis’s Technical Director, added: “We know from experience that a single moment, a meaningful impulse from the right place at the right time, can have a decisive impact on a student’s life and career path. We want to contribute to these impulses—by helping modernize education at BME and by showcasing some of the more interesting and specialized aspects of our work in person.”

Dr. Charaf Hassan, Rector of BME, commented on the value of the agreement for the university: “It is of utmost importance for the Budapest University of Technology and Economics that our students engage with key industry players during their studies. The collaboration with Egis Pharmaceuticals PLC not only strengthens our practice-oriented education but also serves as a great example of how close ties between academia and industry can help launch the careers of future professionals.”

Dr. Tibor Poós, Head of the Chemical Engineering Professional Group, added: “Thanks to this cooperation, we can more effectively draw students’ attention to our specializations in chemical industry energetics and mechanical engineering. They will be exposed to more practical topics, which they can explore further through their thesis or diploma work. We also hope to foster greater interest in scientific research, which may later be reflected in increased participation in PhD programs.”
