Pharmacist, chemical engineer, chemical technician, chemist, environmental engineer – at Egis more than 50% of our colleagues work in jobs which require a degree in chemistry. No wonder that we know very well: this branch of science - in addition to being captivatingly exciting - also offers a secure livelihood. And we do wish to spread the word about the potentials in chemistry as much as possible.

With this in mind, we have launched a site, dedicated to career orientation, which is accessible from our website. We want to demonstrate to different age groups, from pre-school children to undergraduates how studying chemistry can pay up. For the younger children we have come up with a tale. We explain every phenomenon occurring in the story and use an experiment to assist the children in gaining better and deeper understanding of the world around us. To older students we present spectacular virtual experiments. Students, who are in the last years of the secondary school and are considering to become a chemist, chemical engineer or a pharmacist, can find several short films on our website, in which we - with the help of our partner universities in our joint project called “Colourful Chemistry” - explain the complete learning material required for the advanced level school leaving exam and clarify some calculations.

However, we also understand that to teach this subject, beyond the beauty and the secrecy of chemistry, we need enthusiastic and committed teachers. We aim to support their work as well, e.g., we sponsor a newsletter, published by the Szabó Szabolcs Foundation, which contains many ideas, pieces of news that help pedagogical work and can be integrated in chemistry lessons. Besides that, we also contribute to the organization of several chemistry competitions.
