At the award ceremony which was held at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre, Gabriella Tornóczky, Head of the External and Internal Communications Division represented our company and handed out the awards in the Egis-sponsored category. “The World of the Badger” by Ádám Horváth was selected the best individual image by the jury. The second prize went to Ferenc Lőrincz Jr. for his underwater photo “A Hunting Firefish” and “The Life of Storks” by Irma Szabó took third place.
While the individual images primarily captured the fragile beauty of nature and wildlife, the series drew attention to the problems caused by climate change and environmental pollution. The photo report by Zsolt Balázs won the grand prize, his series of photographs titled „The Silent Sky over Thundering Grounds” – The 2022 Summer Drought in Hungary” depict the direct effects of climate change. A similar theme is dealt with in Márton Mónus' entry “I Want to Breed Horses, not Camels,” it was found by the jury the second best series. The third prize was awarded to Márton Mohos’ photo story - the “Rusty River” is about the polluted Sajó river.
An exhibition of the submitted photos can be visited at the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre (1065 Budapest, Nagymező utca 8.) until May 28.
