Egis is a Hungarian pharmaceutical company with an impressive history, which has developed from a small factory producing nutriments in Kőbánya (Budapest) to one of the leading generic pharmaceutical companies in Eastern and Central Europe in more than 110 years.

Egis’ products are manufactured at its three production sites in Hungary:  active ingredient manufacturing plants are located at its headquarters at Keresztúri Street (Budapest), its tabletting, injection, and packaging plants along with one of its warehouses for finished products are based at the production site at Bökényföldi Street (Budapest). At Egis’ production site in the town of Körmend tablets and pellets are produced in the tabletting plant, while in the galenic plant ointments, suppositories, solutions, syrups are manufactured.

Besides Hungary, Egis sells its products under Egis’ brand names in 17 countries.  In total, the company’s APIs and finished products reach 100 countries through the network of Egis subsidiaries and representative offices or partners. The company’s portfolio consists of 653 products that belong to 177 product lines and contain 158 active ingredients. Egis’ focus lies on treating diseases of the cardiovascular and central nervous systems; however, it also provides modern treatment solutions in the fields of diabetology, dermatology and wound care.

Egis' activities incorporate all areas of the generic pharmaceutical value chain: from R&D through the production of APIs and FPs to sales and marketing.

From 2023, Egis offers a wide range of small molecule drug substance and intermediate development and manufacturing services to pharmaceutical partners.
