We took some happiness to the hospitals

The initiative to collect in-kind donations on the eve of Santa’s (Mikulás) day and to give them away in hospitals was launched by the „21 Women for Healthcare” Foundation. It has been one of the most successful events for years. Our company has joined the charitable action "Mosolyt a kórházaknak" ("Smile for the hospitals") for the fourth time thus we also wish to express our appreciation for all the work healthcare workers do.

The donations are distributed on the eve of the day Santa (Mikulás) brings some presents (in Hungary he comes on the 6th December); combined with a community run, the in-kind donations are delivered by volunteers to healthcare institutions, for the staff and for the patients.  The volunteers give the bags personally to those who can’t return home for the Holidays.  The growing number of participants joining the initiative shows that event is gaining recognition.  This year, on behalf of Egis, the smiles were brought by Judit Karagics and Anita Lakatos to the hospitals.
“Because of corona, we could not run together las year – recalled Anita Lakatos. We covered the whole distance on the Pest side: starting from the Heim Pál Children’s Hospital, stopping at the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center, at the Casualty and at the Hospital in the Uzsoki Street. The last stop was the Bethesda Children’s Hospital – the building was illuminated, the light painting was absolutely amazing, we all got a bit emotional.
Judit Karagics has been one of the “Santa” runners for several years. “This is an important occasion for me, I was really looking forward to it this year too. Thanks to running I got to know some great people. It was uplifting to see the many participants representing health care companies, corporations coming together to pay respect to the work of hospital workers. Running together is a fantastic experience and on the eve of Santa’s Day make nurses, patients, and sick children happy."
